When I was little, I befriended a girl who introduced me to skipping ropes. I always thought that skipping ropes are used for an individual to exercise, until I met her tho.
We used to to have 3-4 girls in our group, taking turns to jump on the skipping rope until someone trips over. Of course, I found this game to be fun.. but the song we used during the jumps was weird!
It goes like this:
Blue black, ikan kanse
See bee, I bee obor
Mother is the boonches
Father catch me
How many hours Dutch Lady
A,B,C..
(*continues until the person jumping makes mistake*)
What language is that, you may ask?
I seriously don’t know. LOL
I knew there was something wrong with the song, but being a child, I kinda just let it go and told myself to “find the truth” about that song someday…
Until lastnight.
I searched the Internet, and I FINALLY found the truth!
The song was supposed to be like this:
Bluebells, cockle shells,
Eevie, ivy, over;
Mother went to market
To buy some meat;
Baby’s in the cradle
Fast asleep.
The old clock on the mantel says
One o’clock, two o’clock..
(to twelve o’clock)
HAHAHAHAHA!
What a BIG, MAJOR difference from the song we used to sing innocently.
LOL!!
Well, now that I’ve found the truth – I hope you kids that are reading this entry
PLEASE use the correct song from now onwards.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a skipping rope to jump.
My brother and my sis in-law decided to join me. HAHA!
P/S There’s so many other song for skipping rope or jump rope.
You can see a list of it >>>HERE<<<

that was so fun! I found a lot of those songs that we used to do!!
I miss being a little kid!
