I remember growing up as a young Catholic girl in a very close-knit family. Every Sunday, my parents would take me and my brother to St. Peter’s Church for Mass. In fact, I have always looked forward for Sunday to come – not because I want so badly to attend Mass, but because my parents would take us for lunch at my favorite restaurant where they have “ABC” (a mound of shaved ice sitting on top of a host of ingredients such as sweet corn, cherries..etc).
When I started my elementary school, my mom started taking me with her to the church for a Prayer Meeting every Wednesday nights. I must say, it was a wonderful experience getting to see how the “grown ups” pray. Although I was just a young girl, I began to develop a love for prayers. I remember having a Filipina friend who’s mother have this special talent in making beautiful rosaries. I remember giving my friend my pocket money savings to buy one of the prettiest rosary I saw, but she gave me the rosary for free instead. I was so happy!
As I grow older, my parents moved to another city where there was no big church but a small chapel. There, my parents started to get involved with the church’s prayer group and eventually, I started joining them too. I love the month of rosary, we get to travel from one place to another every night, meeting people, gather as one big family and recite the rosary together. At the end of every rosary decade, we will be praying for family and friends, for the poor and the sick and for the World peace prayer.
Prayers brings peace to the mind and soul. I believe that and will always do. If you’re a Catholic who doesn’t know how to recite the rosary or perhaps you’ve forgotten how to recite the rosary, you can learn how to pray/recite the rosary from here.
May you have a wonderful day ahead, God bless.
