I miss listening to songs like this… my daughter would dance to this beat, it reminds her of her experience at the Monsopiad cultural village.

I consider myself somewhat a Kadus music afficionado, hence can’t resist to make a comment here. This song appeared in 2004 with Malay lyrics, but as of 2007 I heard full Kadus versions on the radio.
It was written by one of Sabah’s best current songwriters, Umbut, who also wrote Clarice John Matha’s “adaa” (one of the best Kadus songs of 2005) and Reno’s “milangad-langad” (one of the best Kadus songs of 2006).
“Sayang Kinabalu” is one of those songs that ages like wine. I expected its popularity to endure, but I did not expect its popularity to grow even years after it was first published.
FYI, I’m maintaining a list of the best Kadus songs over the years at http://www.pinolobu.com/mediawiki/index.php/Kadus_songs_of_the_year. It’s a wiki, hence pls add/modify/improve as you’d like. I’ve been at it since 2005 as a labour of love. Thanks!

Nessa : Ya bah, Nessa. Being away from home makes us sensitip bah. Hehehe. Honestly, when I heard this song, I cried too. I have this sudden homesick feeling..
ann : You should teach her to dance Sumazau too. It’ll be awesome! Hehehe..
massy : Ya bah.. I should come home..
Ratu Syura : You also homesick kan? I saw in your blogpost…
Shemah : Uwaaaa.. Shemah.. pinjam kapal terbang ko.. I nak balik Sabah!!
Ian Tam : Iya bah.. best dengar ni lagu ni.
ben : Thank you for the info, ben. Wow, it’s so nice to know that the Kadus song industry is growing and gaining popularity every year. Thanks for the link too. I will check it out!

Well… It seems that we have raised up the Malay song… not the Kadus song… since it (the lyrics) was wrote in Malay language… (Melayu pasar actually..) should we call this “Sayang Kinabalu” song as a Kadus song??
I suggest we shouldn’t judge the quality of the song only by its popularity… look at the deeper elements…
