The next time anyone had the nerve to say “Buy at Pasar Malam lar.. It’s CHEAPER!” I’m gonna slap that person.

I’m angry. Marah dis. Not that I’m being a cheapskate or something, but we all know, Pasar Malam is the place where you’re supposed to find items and stuff being sold at a cheaper price compared to the local stores. Heck, by luck, you might even find a cheaper berndes cookware.
Today I went to the Pasar Malam nearby. Since it’s a Pasar Malam, I thought I should get some groceries there – like vegetables perhaps. So there I was, happily browsing for vegetables from this stall. RM2 for a packet of French beans. “Cheap..” I thought. Took a packet, paid for it and head back.
Back at home, I noticed that I’ve ran out of chicken, so I head to the supermarket instead. (Too lazy to walk to Pasar Malam already… since it’s overcrowded there) Then at the supermarket, I noticed that the French beans were sold at RM1.30 per pack only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *knn* *ccb* Not only it’s cheaper.. it’s A LOT MORE than the ones I bought from the Pasar Malam!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee…. Tipah Tertipu!!!!!
This is the “cursed” French bean I got at the Pasar Malam:

How could that lady sell it so expensive???!!! I’m a person who doesn’t shop for vegetables often, so I wouldn’t know the actual price! Eeeeeeee.. next time, I’m not gonna buy vegetables from Pasar Malam anymore. Hmph!
* pasar malam = bazaar, night market

maybe it’s fresher leh…
or… which pasar malam u go to… the one in bangsar… cater for rich ppl la.
Cindy: Same only I saw.. both also fresh. Hehehe. Err.. no, not the Bangsar one.. wow, the Pasar Malam there is much more expensive? I must check it out lar. Haha!

LOL! Cindy, didn’t you know pasar malams are now tourist attractions too? How to sell cheap cheap stuff there la, need to fleece the tourists too you know … LOL!
There’s this good nice friendly and real cheap hypermarket I could recommend but if you’re not staying anywhere near Subang, then you’d have to brave the jams to get there or go there real early like 6am … LOL!

i jarang already buy vege be it at pasar malam kah pasar siang kah….it’s true that the vege they’re selling tend to be more expensive. Mau ckp fresh pun…the Chua Kah Seng here in Donggongon pnya vege pun fresh juga. Every day pack some more.
if u ever go to Tambunan or Keningau, there is this one row of vege stalls before reaching Kg Sunsuron Tambunan. Years back, ppl like to buy veges, tuhau, bambangan, etc from there cos they’re real fresh, banyak and most important, cheap. Now, satu ikat sayur jarang sdh yg less than RM2. If got pun, mcm tidak cukup dua org makan saja.

Maybe it’s organic?
U should go to the pasar malam in Sunway then, I usually buy RM2 for 3 ikats of veg.

Could be the xtra 70 sen you paid, you paid for the ‘freshness’ of the Kacang Pendek aka Kacang Perancis?
Cindy: Dunno lah.. but the French beans I saw at the supermarket looks really fresh too.
September 18th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
tsk tsk tsk. Everything is so expensive nowadays. Pasar or no pasar. So far, I haven’t been to any ramadhan bazaars yet, so I haven’t witnessed much price hike. Oh but my mom did say, the donuts no more RM1 for 3. It’s 40cents each already. Harga gula naik??
September 18th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
gini la ni kalau perempuan jarang pegi pasar. Hehehehe
Cindy: Jan gitu bah…
September 18th, 2007 at 8:53 pm
The sayur benih probably kena import bah, that’s why ada mahal sikit. Sorry Cindy.. can’t think of another explanation, other than this.
Cindy: Hmmm.. maybe also lar. Pasar malam probably getting hig h class oledi.
September 18th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
May be the one you bought is organic vege?
September 19th, 2007 at 10:49 am

September 19th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
Frech things… I am not too keen on them, neither on french men ! lol
September 19th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
Aaah! That’s the thing about Pasar Malam. You have to survey everything first. *chuckle* Cause they know some people aren’t used to going to Pasar Malam, so they’re counting on those people not knowing the usual price. It’s good to bring a friend while you’re roaming around the Pasar Malam. =D
