Love, Thy will be done

9th Aug 2016

Last Sunday, I was at an evening mass in a small town called Kepayan. Now, normally when I’m at that church, I’d be sitting outside since it’s pretty warm inside, but that evening, for some reason, I felt called to sit inside.

The rosary prayer has already started when I sat, so I quickly got my rosary beads out to join in the prayer. As I recite the prayer, I felt the bench jerked backward. Then it jerked again. I turned my head to look and saw the back of the head of a girl. Told myself, “It’s just a kid.” But the moving sensation goes on. That girl was slamming her back on the bench again and again. I started to get so annoyed so I turned my head to look…

And then I saw her. A girl with down syndrome…

Guilt started running inside of me. I felt like a jerk so I looked down on my feet and started asking for forgiveness.

She behaved pretty well during the whole procession. After communion, I drank the water from my bottle and I noticed that she has the same pink bottle as mine, except that mine was a Tupperware brand and hers was the cheaper version. She looked at me and I showed her my bottle to acknowledge that we have the same bottle. I think she smiled at me! Then I suddenly felt this warmth inside of me – I wanted to cry! So I looked down on my feet again, closed my eyes and tried really hard not to drop a tear.

I guess that’s how life is. We judge people too quickly, but until we have been in their shoes, we’ll never know the struggle they went through.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

I’d like to end my post with a photo of my freshly picked pucuk ubi from my garden.

God has been so good by providing us fresh veggies everyday. *Ü*

Yesterday was the last day of Retreat Penyembuhan Batin… and boy was I super exhausted. 2 weeks of daily singing practice with the Charismatic group (we practice from 8:30 PM till 11:00 PM.. but I’d normally go to bed around 1:00 AM after late supper) along with the lack of sleep (coz we had to come early to the retreat venue) has finally taken it’s toll on me.

I fell asleep in the card on our way back home and I slept for about 10 hours back home. It was a much needed sleep (but honestly, I am still tired right now. lol)

But it was an awesome experience nonetheless. Our group performed well in bringing the crown to singing praising songs. Very uplifting especially now that we have awesome musicians in our group; a Filipino drummer, an Iban lead guitarist (who uses a fitty watt Marshall – I think?), a Kadazan rhythmist guitar and a Kadazan keyboardist. If you hear they play, I’m 100% sure that you’ll enjoy singing the praising songs as well.

Now that the retreat’s over, I am so looking forward for the next retreat (so my brand new Shure SM58 microphone can sing with me again. lol)

love is sweet

So my dear friend Sandy finally got married and had her reception early last month.

I was placed in charged with a few things for the reception, among them was to set up the mini dessert table.

The venue of the reception was at Supertanker Restaurant. On the 1st Floor. There was NO elevator. So can you imagine me – doing everything on my own – from carrying the banquet table up, along with the cake stands, porcelain trays, table cloth, flowers etc? I kid you not, I think I lost a few inches from just going up and down the stairs. lol

But everything went according to plan. I managed to setup the dessert table and the backdrop. The party was lovely, everyone enjoyed themselves. The dessert table was a popular hit with the desserts gone in less than 5 minutes! And the music contributed to the fun too. Everyone enjoyed great music and great karaoke session. The deejay (who probably has ax7) played a few popular songs which got everyone on their feet.

Oh how I love weddings!

in His love

God really loves me. He loves us. In fact, He loves you and me.

One evening, I was so exhausted and tired that I wanted to just break down and cry while eating a cake. Or maybe 2 cakes. I just want to get away from all the things that makes me tired..

And then God sent me a cake.

I kid you not. A neighbor went out station and requested us (me & my partner) to keep an eye on her house. It was a simple gesture we did for her, but imagine my surprise when she came back and came knocking on the door – with a cake!!

The cake was too big and too much for just the 2 of us, so I brought it to our Charismatic group’s jam practice last Thursday and shared with everyone there. It was a hit. Brought some leftover back to be shared with the doggies at home too.

But God did not stop there. He sent another box of pink cupcakes!

This was a gift from another baker friend. in fact, this was the 2nd box of pink cupcakes she gave me. I did just a small favor for her and she rewarded me with cupcakes.

If you are still in doubt of God’s love, please don’t. These gift of cake and cupcakes is just one of the many examples of how God is showing us that He loves us. He sent ‘angels’ in the form of our neighbors or friends to tell us of His love.

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” (1 John 3:1)
